Civil, employment and insurance matters affect individuals and businesses alike. A problem may arise from a contract that has not been performed, an employment relationship that has ended, damage that remains uncompensated or an insurer’s decision that does not reflect the available documents. An early review helps identify the relevant facts, evidence and procedural deadlines before the dispute escalates.

I can assist before a document is signed and after a dispute has arisen. My work includes legal analysis, drafting and reviewing agreements, formal notices, objections and court documents, settlement negotiations and representation before Bulgarian civil courts and arbitral tribunals where applicable.

How I can assist

  • Drafting, reviewing and interpreting civil and commercial contracts
  • Claims for non-performance, penalties and pecuniary or non-pecuniary damage
  • Employment contracts, termination, remuneration and compensation
  • Insurance claims, refusals and disputes about the amount of compensation
  • Payment-order, interim-relief and enforcement proceedings
  • Negotiation and preparation of out-of-court settlements
  • Representation before competent courts throughout Bulgaria

Contracts and civil disputes

A sound contract allocates obligations and risk in clear terms. Its subject matter, performance standards, payment, liability, termination and dispute mechanism should match the actual relationship. When a dispute already exists, I review the agreement together with correspondence, payment records and other evidence to assess the available claims and defences.

Court proceedings are not always the first or most proportionate option. A formal notice, structured negotiation or settlement may protect the client’s interest more efficiently. Where litigation is necessary, I explain the procedural steps, evidential issues, expected costs and practical consequences before a course of action is chosen.

Employment relationships and compensation

Employment cases concern income and professional security, but also the employer’s ability to organise its business lawfully. I advise employees and employers on contracts, amendments, disciplinary procedures, termination, unpaid remuneration, statutory compensation and workplace accidents.

Some employment remedies are subject to short time limits, so dismissal orders and related documents should be reviewed promptly. For employers, preventive advice helps ensure that decisions are properly reasoned, documented and compliant with Bulgarian employment legislation rather than corrected only after a claim has been filed.

Insurance claims

Insurance disputes commonly concern the scope of cover, the cause of the loss, compliance with policy duties or the calculation of compensation. My professional experience includes representation in claims for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage, regulatory submissions and settlements with insured and injured parties.

I can review the policy, general terms, notifications and supporting evidence, prepare a reasoned claim or objection and represent you in negotiations or litigation. The recommended approach reflects not only the legal merits, but also the value, timing and practical benefit of the claim.

How the work proceeds

The first step is to establish a reliable chronology and separate the legally relevant facts from the wider correspondence. After reviewing the documents, we clarify your objective, possible claims or defences and any additional evidence required. You receive a clear explanation of the next steps and the decisions that remain yours to make.

If a deadline or proceeding is already running, priority is given to action that preserves your rights. We then compare voluntary resolution and litigation by reference to time, cost and the likely practical outcome. Communication remains clear and confidential throughout the engagement.

Frequently asked questions

When should I consult a lawyer?

Ideally before signing an important document or immediately after receiving a demand, dismissal order, insurance refusal, court papers or enforcement notice. Early advice preserves more options and reduces the risk of missing a deadline.

Must every dispute go to court?

No. Depending on the facts, the matter may be resolved through voluntary performance, negotiation, settlement or another appropriate mechanism. Litigation is recommended when it is necessary and proportionate to the interest at stake.

What should I provide for the first review?

Relevant contracts and annexes, correspondence, invoices and payment records, employment orders, the insurance policy, reports, expert documents and any court or enforcement papers are particularly useful.

Can you work on matters outside Sofia?

Yes. Consultations and document review can be organised remotely, while representation is provided before the competent authorities and courts throughout Bulgaria.
